Dehradun, 23 Dec: Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat reached Nehru Colony Police Station this afternoon to lodge a formal complaint against what he has termed as malicious propaganda being spread via the official social media handles of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In his complaint, the former CM stated that an AI generated video is being circulated from the BJP’s official website and pages with the sole intent of tarnishing his public image. He alleged that the video contains highly offensive language and imagery concerning the Hindu and Muslim communities, in order to create communal disharmony and unrest.
The complaint specifies that the video, which came to his notice on 18th December 2025, was illegally produced and disseminated by the official page managed by the BJP State President and his associates. Rawat asserted that by utilising AI technology to create a fraudulent reel, the perpetrators have not only hurt religious sentiments but have also attempted to threaten the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. He further stated that the AI-generated content depicts him in a treasonous light, which has caused him immense personal distress. Clarifying that he has absolutely no connection to the video, he demanded that a First Information Report be registered under appropriate legal sections against those responsible for creating and promoting this inflammatory content.
Among those present on the occasion included MLAs Mamta Rakesh, Ravi Bahadur, Furkan Ahmed, and Anupama Rawat, alongside Women Congress State President Jyoti Rautela. Additionally, some leaders from other parties including Comrade Samar Bhandari, Comrade Indresh Maikhuri, Comrade Jagdish Kukreti and Comrade Rajendra Purohit.
