Almora, 8 Apr: The Haldwani Vigilance Establishment’s trap team today arrested accountant Har Singh Bisht, also known as Harish Singh Bisht, posted at the Lamgada block office in Almora district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The arrest was made inside the block office itself after the accused was caught red-handed taking money from the complainant.
According to the vigilance officials, Bisht had demanded money from the complainant in exchange for releasing the Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) related to a tender worth Rs 3,00,000 for toilet construction work that had already been approved. Acting on the complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap and executed the operation as per procedure, leading to his immediate arrest.
The accused, son of Bahadur Singh Bisht and a resident of Bansmira locality near Nanda Devi temple in Chinakhan, Almora, was taken into custody following the successful operation.
The vigilance department confirmed that the arrest was carried out strictly in accordance with legal norms and the investigation is now underway.
