Dehradun, 25 Apr: Acting on the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Jai Bharat Singh today convened a review meeting in the Collectorate auditorium to assess pending prosecution cases in Magistrate Courts. He emphasised the need for designated Assistant Prosecution Officers to remain present and actively advocate prosecution cases, ensuring efficient coordination with the courts.
The ADM also expressed concern over the frequent absence of Assistant Prosecution Officers in Magistrate Courts, which causes undue delays in case resolution and obstructing the judicial process. He stated that such delays also result in revenue loss and directed that all designated Assistant Prosecution Officers must compulsorily attend their respective Magistrate Courts every week to facilitate the timely disposal of prosecution cases.
During the meeting, the ADM also reviewed ongoing proceedings under Sections 166 and 167 and examined the latest progress in determining shares in cases of violations under Section 154 of the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act (UPZALR Act). He instructed all SDMs to expedite the determination of shares and complete the one hundred per cent verification of farmers under the Kisan Yojana at the earliest.
Joint Director Law claimed that full cooperation is being extended to ensure the efficient disposal of prosecution cases. He stated that a roster of Assistant Prosecution Officers would be prepared for Magistrate Courts, and measures would be implemented to expedite case resolution.
Among those present at the meeting were ADM (FR) KK Mishra, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, OC Collectorate Apurva, SDM Harigiri, SDM Kumkum Joshi, SDM Vinod Kumar, SDM Aparna Dhaundiyal, Tehsildar Sohan Singh Rangad, Tehsildar Surendra Dev, Tehsildar Vivek Rajouri, Joint Director Law GC Pancholi, along with all designated Assistant Prosecution Officers for the Magistrate Courts.
