After Almora, now Haridwar Medical College also to become functional

Dehradun, 2 Oct: During the three-year tenure of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, 2 new medical colleges have been launched in Uttarakhand. Almora Medical College was opened in 2022 and, now Haridwar Medical College, is also going to begin functioning from this session. With the addition of a total of 200 new seats at both places, the number of government medical seats in MBBS, first year, in Uttarakhand has increased to 625.
Before the Pushkar Singh Dhami government took charge, only Srinagar, Dehradun and Haldwani Medical Colleges were operating in the state. However, by then work was started on Almora Medical College and Haridwar Medical College. Immediately after taking charge, with the resolve to improve health services in the state as well as increase the number of MBBS seats, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave instructions to start these 2 medical colleges on priority. After this, the construction work on both the medical colleges was completed on a war footing. Medical studies have begun from 2022 after the construction of Almora Medical College was completed first. Now, with the completion of the construction work on Haridwar Medical College, the way for admission to 100 MBBS seats here has also been cleared from this academic session.
Opportunity for meritorious students
The central government has approved 100 seats for Haridwar Medical College for the current academic session, 2024-25. Counselling is now being started for this. More youngsters of the state will get a chance to do MBBS by paying government fees only.

“While our government is expanding quality health services through the establishment of new medical colleges, it will also give meritorious students an opportunity to study medicine in their own state at affordable rates. Counselling for the first batch at Haridwar Medical College will start soon. Efforts are being made to get the necessary recognition by completing the construction of Pithoragarh and Rudrapur Medical Colleges soon,”
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated.
