Conference begins at Graphic Era on

Dehradun, 24 Apr: Experts from India and abroad stated at Graphic Era that the development of AI-based technological products represents one of the biggest opportunities for the future.

A two-day international conference on Device Intelligence, Computing and Communication Technologies started today at Graphic Era Deemed to be University. Addressing the inaugural session, Chief Guest, Director General (Technology Management) DRDO, LC Mangal said that when AI is combined with advanced computing power, the possibilities for innovation and discovery increase manifold. This not only accelerates the development of new technologies but also enables effective solutions to complex problems. He added that students working in this field can not only develop new technologies but also create large-scale employment opportunities.

Vice Chancellor Dr Narpinder Singh stated that this is an era of rapidly evolving technology, and device intelligence has become the strongest foundation of this transformation. Speaking about smart cities, he said that future cities will be driven by smart devices, making life simpler, safer, and more organised.

Prof Nicola Marchetti from the School of Engineering, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, emphasised that a deep understanding of complex systems and information theory is essential to build robust and reliable future communication networks. He noted that network structure directly affects its stability and performance, and with the integration of AI and advanced technologies, upcoming 6G networks will be more capable, secure, and adaptable.

Director of NSUT West Campus, Prof Prerna Gaur, and Chief General Manager, Indian Optel Limited, Dehradun, Urmi Shrivastava, also addressed the conference.

The two-day conference will feature ten technical sessions, covering topics such as machine learning, smart device networks, photonic crystal fibre sensors, semiconductor device analysis, and object detection. More than 100 research papers will be presented during the event.

The conference is being organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, in collaboration with IEEE, DRDO, and SERB India. The event was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Santosh S Saraf, Registrar Dr Naresh Kumar Sharma, Head of Department Dr Md Irfanul Hasan, Prof Nishchal K Verma, Prof Sudeb Dasgupta, Dr Malathi S, Dr Bajrang Prasad Mishra, Dr Mridul Gupta, along with faculty members and students. The conference was conducted by Dr Sakshi Gupta.
