Dehradun, 10 Jun: Members of a number of organisations met at at the Col Brown School grounds and paid their homage on 7 June to the late Finance Minister Prakash Pant, who passed away in the US where he had gone for treatment.
Expressing his condolences on the occasion, Brig KG Behl, President, All India Consumers Council and Sanyukta Nagrik Sangathan, said that no one thought that such a bright career would end so soon. Rather, all were looking forward to see his return in good health with his usual cheerful countenance. Pant was a very soft spoken person, a poet, and received everyone with warmth. He was a gem of a person and mixed with all and listened to their problems and tried to solve them. He would be long remembered and missed for years to come.
Others those who spoke on the occasion included JS Jassal, Dr Mahesh Bhandari, Jitendra Dandona, BN Bajaj, Chandrapal Singh, MN Sharma, Yashveer Arya, Paramjeet Singh Kakkar, Col BM Thapa, Senior Vice President, DESL, Trilochhan Singh, Pradeep Kukreti, Arif Khan, Asha Tamta, BP Nautiyal, Col BD Gambhir and many others. Everyone had high praise for Prakash Pant and brought out his various qualities. It was recalled that his daughter was recently commissioned in the Armed Forces.
Two minutes of silence were observed as homage to the departed soul.
