DEHRADUN, 21 Jul: The AMU Old Boys’ Association, Jeddah, organised an online Mushaira, “Byad-e-Gulzar Dehlvi”, to pay tribute to Padma Shri awardee Dr Gulzar Dehlvi, who passed away recently at the age of 93.
Moin Shadab conducted the mushaira. He welcomed the guests and poets.
Dr S Farooq presided over the mushaira. He appreciated the efforts of the organisers and said that Dr Gulzar Dehlvi was known internationally. He was popular for his ‘Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb’, cultural relations and brotherhood. Dr Farooq added that Pandit Gulzar would be remembered for his sensitive poetry such as
Wo kehtey hain ye mera teer hai jaan leke niklegi,
Main kehta hoon ye meri jaan hai bari mushkil se niklegi
Eminent poets took part in the mushaira like Manzar Bhopali, Nawaz Deobandi, Iqbal Ashar, Qaiser Khalid, Javed Mushiri, Ahmed Irfan Alig, Shabbir Shad, Syed Altaf, Dr Prince Mufti Zia, Syed Baqar Naqvi, etc.
