Anasakti Ashram tableau represents U’khand at Delhi RD Parade

DEHRADUN, 27 Jan: The tableau of the Anasakti Ashram in Kausani, which was Uttarakhand’s contribution to the 70th Republic Day Parade on the Rajpath in New Delhi, proved a big hit. The ten member artists’ team, led by KS Chauhan, Deputy Director, Information Department, presented the tableau. The theme song was sung by famous folk singer Narendra Singh Negi. As the country is celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, this year the theme of all the tableaus that participated in the Republic Day Parade was “The Life and Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi”.
The front part of the Uttarakhand tableau showed Mahatma Gandhi writing ‘Anasakti Yog’, while the middle section showed the Anasakti Ashram with tourists, people doing yoga and reading Mahatma Gandhi’s conversations with Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant. The background of the tableau had Deodar trees, local residents and tall mountain ranges. On the side panels, the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand, namely Jageshwar Dham, Badrinath and Kedarnath temples were shown.
It has to be remembered that Kausani was described by Mahatma Gandhi as ‘Switzerland of India’. Gandhi had visited Kausani in 1929 and wrote the preface to his famous book, “Anasakti Yog’, based on the ‘Bhagvad Gita’, at this very place. The Ashram is run by the Gandhi Samarak Nidhi. Prayer meetings are held in the mornings and evenings and the ashram’s library and reading room are being developed as a training centre. Books related to Gandhian philosophy are available for researchers, intellectuals and tourists.
