Army’s Surya Command observes Kargil Vijay Diwas

Dehradun, 27 Jul: The Indian Army’s Surya Command (Central Command) observed Kargil Vijay Diwas 25 to 27 July at Pacific Mall, here, to honour the valour and sacrifice of the soldiers who secured India’s victory in the Kargil War of 1999.

On this day, the nation remembers the brave soldiers who fought valiantly and made the ultimate sacrifice to reclaim Indian posts occupied by Pakistan intruders in the Kargil district of Ladakh. The solemn occasion witnessed a series of events aimed at paying tribute to the fallen heroes and felicitated their families.

The major highlights of the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration included a photo exhibition, a signature wall campaign – “I Support Indian Army”, a Know your Army Exhibition, ‘Hunar

Haat’ and various performances. The brave families of the Kargil martyrs, and the ‘Veer Naris’, were felicitated in recognition of their immense sacrifice and unwavering spirit.

A special interactive session was held with Kargil War veterans, providing an opportunity for them to share their experiences and inspire the younger generation.

It was stated that Kargil Vijay Diwas holds immense significance for the nation, reminding us of the unwavering courage and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the country. This event was not only a tribute to the valour of the armed forces but a way of bringing those stories of valour closer to the people.
