Asian School celebrates Annual Prize Giving Ceremony

Dehradun, 17 May: The 18th Annual Prize Giving Ceremony was held today at the White House Court of The Asian School, here. A large number of Asianites received awards for achieving excellence in academics in all examinations. A distinctive criterion has been devised in the school to enlist the students who have secured 90% marks in three subjects out of six subjects. The school also gives commendation awards to students who are otherwise weak and have shown consistent improvement in the year in their academic achievements.
A total of 538 Asianites received the Awards with 143 students receiving the most coveted Governor’s Awards, 213, Principal’s Awards and 135 students receiving the Teacher’s Awards. The Award Ceremony began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Col Vivek Sharma, Commandant, RIMC.
This was followed by the welcome address by Head Girl Asmita Srivastava.
Addressing the audience, Col Vivek Sharma congratulated the students and their teachers for putting up a wonderful show. He commended the school for its efforts in providing an environment that encouraged the students to strive for excellence in every field, be it academics or co curricular activities.
The Chief Guest was felicitated and presented a memento by Madanjeet Singh, Vice President, The Asian School.
A short series of dance and musical performances by the students enchanted the audience with their sublime energy of rhythm and melody. The devotional song, ‘Kedarnath Anthem’ by the school choir exhorted the pilgrims to continue the journey to the Holy Shrine, despite hurdles and lack of support. The highlight of the show was the dance performance, ‘Tarana’ by The Asian Dance Troupe, which mesmerizsed the audience with its captivating fluid dance movements and synchronised steps.
Earlier, the Annual Academic report for the year 2018 – 19 was read out by the Principal, AK Das. The Principal highlighted the importance of the parent-teacher association in building the child’s confidence and making him/her effective self-learners. He also advised the parents to expose the children to the rich culture and tradition of the nation and consider this as an evolved family exercise.
The function was attended by Madanjeet Singh, Vice President, The Asian School, Director GaganJyot Juneja, Vice Principal Anant VD Thapliyal, Head, Middle School, Mukesh Nangia, Headmistress Kalpana Grover, Geeta Das and the entire faculty and parents. The programme was jointly anchored by Ananya Dulta, Shreya Bajaj, Aindree and Gundeep, and attended by parents, students and the entire faculty. The grand ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Boy, Kipa Yullo.
