DEHRADUN, 10 Feb: On the auspicious day of Basant Panchami, the date for the opening of the Badrinath Shrine portals was announced, today.
This was done after ritual prayers at the Royal Palace in Narendra Nagar after astrological calculations by the Tirth Purohits. According to them, the portals will be opened at 4:15 a.m. on 10 May. Devotees will be able to obtain ‘darshan’ of the Deity from then onwards.
The Royal Family held ritual prayers at the palace to ascertain the date of the event. Raja Manujendra Shah’s representative and heir, Rani Kshirya made the announcement of the date.
A vessel containing oil is taken from Narendra Nagar palace to Badrinath. The Deity is bathed in the oil with the appropriate rituals to begin the ceremony of opening the portals.
