Bhararisain (Gairsain), 20 Jun: The scenic hill town of Gairsain, Uttarakhand’s summer capital, played gracious host today to a distinguished delegation of foreign ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomatic envoys, who have arrived at the Bharaarisain Vidhan Sabha Complex to participate in the International Yoga Day festivities.
As the guests stepped into the lush green surroundings of the Legislative Assembly premises, they were struck by the captivating landscape, lush green valleys, and the region’s untouched natural charm, prompting many to capture the moments on their mobile phones.
The visiting dignitaries were accorded a grand traditional welcome that showcased Uttarakhand’s vibrant folk culture. The electrifying performance of the Choliya dance, complemented by the thunderous rhythms of native musical instruments like Dhol and Damau, left the foreign guests visibly delighted. They praised the cultural richness of the region and described Gairsain as a truly “amazing and all-round rich place”.
Immersing themselves in the spirit of the celebration, several members of the delegation took memorable photographs with the traditional artists. The warm hospitality and immersive cultural display reflected the essence of Uttarakhand’s ethos.
The prominent guests to arrive in Bhararisain today included Ambassador of Mexico to India Federico Salas; Ricardo Daniel Delgado, Head of Economic Affairs at the Mexican Embassy; Jagannath Sami, High Commissioner of Fiji to India; Shankar Prasad Sharma, Ambassador of Nepal to India; Arunkoer Hardien, Ambassador of Suriname to India; Dambajavyn Ganbold, Ambassador of Mongolia to India; Marks Ditons, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Latvia; Lakshmendra Gayan Dissanayake, Minister Counsellor at the Sri Lankan High Commission; Kristina Ananina, First Secretary at the Russian Embassy; and Katerina Lazareva, Third Secretary at the Russian Embassy. Also present was renowned Yoga Guru Swami Bharat Bhushan, a Padma Shri awardee.
The international guests will be taking part in the upcoming Yoga Day celebrations, with Bharaarisain offering an ideal confluence of serenity, nature, and heritage, befitting the spirit of yoga and holistic well-being
