Dehradun, 20 Jun: A 14-year-old boy suffered a severe electric shock after coming into contact with exposed wires inside a temple located in the Garhi Cantt area. The boy’s father has filed a formal complaint at the Garhi Cantt Police Station, holding the temple committee’s president responsible for negligence.
According to the complaint, Colonel Nishit Thakur (Retd), a resident of Sangam Vihar, Dakra, had gone to the temple with his wife and two sons for evening prayers. During the visit, his elder son Aniruddh Singh Thakur came in contact with open electric wires inside the temple premises and got a severe electric shock. He fell unconscious on the spot.
The family immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he has been admitted to the ICU in critical condition. Since then, the boy has been fighting for his life.
Colonel Thakur has filed a written complaint at Garhi Cantt Police Station, demanding an FIR against the temple committee’s president and officials for gross negligence. He said that if proper safety measures had been in place, this incident could have been avoided.
Police have received the complaint and are looking into the matter.
