Dehradun, 7 May: Describing the participation of common people as necessary for effective control of raging forest fires, BJP has called for cooperation from everyone in this regard. State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt today expressed satisfaction at the efforts being made by CM Dhami on a war footing to deal with this disaster. He also praised the public’s cooperation in this disaster and expressed hope that the forest fire would be controlled soon.
Responding to queries of the media persons today, Bhatt claimed that the state government is working as per plan regarding disaster management. But it is very unfortunate that due to lack of snowfall and rains as expected in winter and spring, incidents of forest fire have taken a severe form. To deal with this disaster, the entire system of the state is working day and night under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Teams of the Police, Administration, Forest Department, Fire Department, NDRF, SDRF are making continuous efforts to control the forest fires. Bhatt claimed that the CM is closely monitoring the fire control efforts. His decisions to take the help of the army and imposing Gangster Act on those who set fires are highly praiseworthy.
Bhatt reminded that the CM is cancelling all his programmes in other states and reaching ground zero to meet the disaster teams and the people of the state struggling with the forest fires. Fires are not only causing harm to forests, fields, the environment but also to the lives of people. Therefore, today all the organisations including government, non-government and NGOs need to come together to extinguish the fires.
The BJP MP also urged all the opposition parties including Congress to rise above political compulsion and work together with the government in dealing with this natural disaster. Bhatt asserted that no one can benefit from politics on an issue that causes harm to the life and property of common people, while everyone is bound to suffer losses. Everyone is witness to the fact that all the disasters that have occurred in the past years have been faced well through an effective crisis management by the government. He warned that this politics of taking advantage of the disaster by taking it as an opportunity to make allegations can prove to be harmful for the common people.
Bhatt has praised all the people of the state for courageously facing this natural disaster. He assured that the state government under the leadership of BJP organisation and CM Dhami is standing firmly with them in this hour of crisis and that soon the state will be successful in extinguishing the forest fires with public cooperation.
