DM Sonika issues instructions on resolving drinking water crisis in Doon

Dehradun, 7 May: District Magistrate Sonika, while holding a meeting at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate on the drinking water crisis, issued guidelines to the officials of the drinking water department to deal with the shortage and to prevent wastage of water.

The District Magistrate stated that for any water related problem, water shortage, pipeline leakage or other complaints, one can post on the Facebook page of District Magistrate, Dehradun, or call toll free numbers 18001802525 or 18001804109.

Sonika also directed the officials of the Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam to provide division wise information about tube wells, hand pumps, tankers, etc., in the district in the prescribed format by the evening and to submit the report along with their updated status. She asked the officers to take effective measures to prevent wastage of drinking water and take action as per rules against those who are found to be wasting it. Instructions were also given to submit certificates regarding water quality to the authorities. She directed the officials of Peyjal Nigam and Jal Sansthan to visit the areas and resolve the complaints regarding water problems, leakage or supply of dirty water. She said that one employee, each, of Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam should be deputed in the control room for effective coordination on complaints of water problems.
