Dehradun, 28 Sep: BJP has welcomed the announcement of CM Dhami to bring strict land laws in the state soon. State Party President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt has described it as the party’s commitment to save the original form and demography of Uttarakhand. In a statement issued today, Bhatt claimed that the BJP Government has taken many historic and bold decisions in the interest of the state and it will also resolve the issue of land laws and domicile in accordance with public sentiment. He claimed that Congress’s intentions regarding land laws in the state have always been under question.
Bhatt said that till now, the Congress leaders were staging protests and taking to the streets in demand of strong land laws in the state, but when Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that this will be done, they are criticising the announcement and levelling baseless charges. Bhatt also reminded those raising questions on employment that Dhami is one Chief Minister who has ensured most government appointments in the history of the state.
Bhatt claimed that since the formation of the state, BJP has been constantly committed to maintaining the regional identity and the original form of Uttarakhand. Whenever the BJP governments came into existence, serious efforts were made on this subject. Despite this, incidents of illegal purchase and sale of land by land mafia and changing the demography under conspiracy have come to the fore in the previous Congress governments. This is the reason why there is a consensus amongst the people to make the land laws established in the state, more stringent.
He said, due to limited land availability in the state, BJP considers its better management and security to be very crucial and supports the public sentiments in this respect. This is the reason why the BJP Government has prepared a report on this subject through a high-level committee, on which all the legal aspects are being discussed on the instructions of CM Pushkar Dhami. It was also clarified that those who create employment in various fields like tourism, education, industry, trade etc in Uttarakhand do not need to worry. But this new development is going to do the work of giving a severe blow to land mafia and those who buy land with wrong intentions.
Expressing gratitude to CM Dhami on this issue, the BJP State President said that it will bring a smile on the faces of all the people of the state. The government is finalising the action plan very seriously about the issue of strict land laws and domicile. He expressed the hope that by the next budget session, comprehensive land laws will come into existence in accordance with the sentiments of the people of the state. He assured the people that the state has taken many historic and bold decisions under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami. In the same way, by bringing strict land laws according to public sentiment, we will also solve this sensitive issue.
Reacting to the allegations of Congress leaders in this regard, he said that the land laws made during the Congress tenure were changed in 2007 and many changes were made. However, instead of questioning the utility of the laws made earlier, strict land laws are needed today. At the same time, the reality of demographic change should not be ignored and CM Dhami is serious about protecting the original demography of the state. Bhatt alleged that instead of accepting or supporting this truth, Congress is raising questions on this issue. He asked the Congress to clarify their position on both these issues, whether they are in support of it or not? Because till yesterday they used to raise their voice on the land laws on the streets and today why are they opposing by presenting weird arguments instead of appreciating it.
Responding to the questions raised by the opposition regarding employment, Bhatt claimed that the Dhami government is also serious about demographic change and is also working for employment of the youth. The present Dhami government has given maximum government employment so far. In the last three years, the Dhami government has given government jobs to 17 thousand youth.
