MUSSOORIE, 28 Sept: The eighth session of Confluential was hosted at St. George’s College on Saturday with the objective of learning from narratives of struggle, success and significant experience.

The Guest Speaker for the occasion, Dr Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, a distinguished figure in the field of gastroenterology was warmly welcomed by the members of the Student Council and the School Band. With over 29 years of dedicated practice in Dehradun, Dr Agarwal has made significant contributions to both clinical medicine and medical education.

The prayer was led by Aarav Rungta. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp. Ruben Passi introduced the Guest Speaker for the day, Dr Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, who was welcomed with a planter and a memento as a token of appreciation.

In his address to the gathering, Dr Agarwal said that he felt nostalgic about returning to a Patrician school as he himself had graduated from St Joseph’s Convent School, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to the students on how to be successful in life, Dr Agarwal said that post-Covid, the world has become a ‘VUCA’ one, a world of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. According to the speaker, Covid has taught us that we must first try to love ourselves and then the world. We live in a world where everything ranging from the environment, the complexion of the competition, preferences, dynamics, and work methods, has changed.

Dr Agarwal advised the students to ‘do the basics and do them right.’ In his opinion, persistence pays when all else fails. Taking the example of his own life, the speaker said that he still studies for up to three hours a day to keep himself abreast with emerging discoveries and trends in medical science.

Dr Agarwal further told the student community that if they did not know what struggle was, they would never be successful. He reminded them to focus on the purpose of their lives and said that nothing was ever achieved in a day. Passion is important, according to Dr Agarwal.

The speaker spoke at length about the importance of good foods and explained the benefits of eating healthy and regular exercise.

After the speaker had answered all the questions raised by the House, the event

came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Aarya Bikram Rana.
