By Arun Pratap Singh
Kotdwar (Pauri), 16 Apr: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed a ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ in support of BJP candidate Anil Baluni in Kotdwar under Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency here today. Addressing the rally, Amit Shah appealed to the people to make Anil Baluni the MP of Garhwal and promised that he (Amit ShaH) will take care of the constituency. Shah also praised the decision of Dhami Government to implement UCC in Uttarakhand.
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that after 500 years, Ram Lala is going to celebrate his birthday (Ram Navami is tomorrow) at his birthplace in Ayodhya. He asserted that it is a matter of good fortune for the current generation to have witnessed the scene of his consecration. He claimed that the Congress had deliberately delayed this matter for the last several decades whereas Modi completed the consecration of Ram Temple in just five years.
Amit Shah also congratulated the young CM of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami for the UCC Bill. He added that from the time of its inception, Bharatiya Jana Sangh (old name of BJP) had maintained one consistent demand, i.e. Uniform Civil Code. Shah said that he is proud that Dhami is the first to do this work in the whole of India and Prime Minister Modi has also expressed his commitment in the Party Manifesto to implement the UCC on similar lines across the country.
The Union Home Minister observed that the population in the hills of Uttarakhand is less but the people of Uttarakhand have an important contribution in protecting the borders of the country. The then PM Indira Gandhi had promised One Rank One Pension but it is PM Modi, who fulfilled this promise and deposited the amount of Rs 70,000 crores directly into the accounts of the army personnel. Making Modi the Prime Minister is a guarantee of a developed India, developed Uttarakhand, he claimed.
Shah said that he wants to ask the Congress leaders whether any political party should present the report card of its performance or not and added that the Congress has never presented its report card before the people. He reminded that during a total of ten years of Congress government in Uttarakhand, there were ministers in the Centre from the state but Congress only sanctioned Rs 53,000 crores to Uttarakhand in 10 years whereas Modi has sanctioned projects and works worth Rs 1.66 lakhs crores as direct grant to the state and an amount of Rs 82,000 crores for infrastructure and various projects worth thousands of crores are going on in the state.
Shah said that whenever Dhami comes to meet him, he comes with a list of demands, and for him (Shah) it is a great feeling to see this and it also gives satisfaction to see today’s developing Uttarakhand. He said that to stop migration from the hills in Uttarakhand, tourism will have to be promoted. During the time of Congress, people were forced to reach the roads with the help of handcarts, but today Modi has made all-weather roads with Rs 12,000 crores. Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is being built with Rs 8,000 crores and the Train project to Karnaprayag will also be completed in near future. He said that the country’s largest railway tunnel is being built in Uttarakhand.
Shah added that Heli services are continuously being expanded in the state and airports are being constructed. Modi has brought Vibrant Village scheme to control migration. This is Modi’s guarantee that soon the border villages near China border will be inhabited like in the past (1980s). Taking on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Union Minister said that Kharge had questioned the connection of Kashmir with the people of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. But he (Shah) will like to remind Kharge that people from the hills in Uttarakhand have sacrificed their blood to protect Kashmir. He reminded that Congress had indulged in insulting late General Bipin Rawat. Today Modi has abolished Article 370 from Kashmir. During the 10 years of Congress rule, terrorists from Pakistan used to cross over to India every day. They would commit acts of terror and then run away. But after the attacks in Uri and Pulwama, India carried out surgical and air strikes within 10 days and showed to the world that this is the new India, Modi’s India. He said that Modi government has brought CAA law for all the Hindu and Sikh brothers who have been living in suffering for 70 years. More than 80 crore people are being given free ration. Another three crore people will get their homes in the coming years. 10 crore people have been given tap water and gas connections. Now soon gas will also come through pipes. Uttarakhand is number one in implementing all the schemes brought by Modi and Dhami has ensured taking all the schemes to every home.
Praising BJP candidate from Garhwal seat, Anil Baluni, Shah reminded that he has worked with Anil Baluni and appealed to the people to send Anil Baluni to Lok Sabha and promised that he (Shah) will take care of the constituency. While being a Rajya Sabha MP, Baluni worked for the establishment of a planetarium in Pauri as well as installation of Doppler radar here. The country has also come to know Egas festival because of Anil Baluni. Modi needs a partner from here who will work for vibrant villages. Modi has also promoted Sri Anna scheme (millets) here, which has benefited the small farmers here. Modi is grooming Uttarakhand. He reminded the people that it was Congress which had opposed the creation of Uttarakhand and added that everyone knows who opened fire on the youth of Uttarakhand but who created Uttarakhand. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had on the other hand created Uttarakhand and now Modi is developing and grooming it.
Shah said that Congress is saying that if BJP gets 400 seats, reservation will go away but Modi has clearly mentioned that reservations will remain completely intact. Congress is moving ahead with distortion of facts. In Uttarakhand, 14,000 Congress men have joined BJP. There is a race in Congress to leave the party. He said that Garhwal is the bastion of India’s security. Garhwal has a big contribution in the security of the country, he called upon the public to give a representative who can develop Garhwal.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while wishing everyone a happy Durga Ashtami, appealed to the public to support BJP candidate Anil Baluni by voting for him. The Chief Minister said that after so many days of campaigning, he has clearly seen that once again Modi is going to become the Prime Minister of the country. Whenever as CM he demanded something from the Centre , PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have fulfilled everything. Modi has said that the third decade of the 21st century will belong to Uttarakhand and we are working day and night to prove this statement true.
On this occasion, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, former Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, former CM Tirath Singh Rawat, Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj and Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, former MP Balram Pasi, Renu Bisht and Aditya Kothari were present.
