Dehradun, 18 May: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran met with Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, Jagdish Chandra Kandpal, and raised the issue of providing free coaching to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates preparing for competitive examinations.
Jugran stated that, as per a government order issued in 2009, the Uttarakhand government has a provision to provide free coaching to SC/ST aspirants for various competitive exams. He pointed out that although the Directorate of Social Welfare issued an advertisement for free coaching on 4 January this year, the coaching programme has not yet commenced. As a result, aspirants have been left running between the Social Welfare Department and coaching institutes in search of clarity.
In response, Additional Secretary Kandpal informed Jugran that the process is in its final stage and the free coaching initiative will be launched very soon.
