Dehradun, 4 Aug: Uttarakhand Congress Election Steering Committee Chairman and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat today claimed that he had no hesitation in admitting that Vijay Bahuguna was removed from the post of Chief Minister during Congress rule because he had failed in disaster management after the Kedarnath Disaster. He stated that the people similarly wanted to know why the BJP had removed Trivendra Singh Rawat from the post of Chief Minister and what were his failures. The people had a right to know this, he claimed.
In a conversation during a brainstorming session at the Congress camp being held in Rishikesh, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat questioned the BJP on why Trivendra Singh Rawat had been removed from the post of Chief Minister after four years. He claimed that the Congress had courage in accepting that Bahuguna had failed in disaster management forcing the party to replace him. The BJP also ought to show similar courage in admitting that Rawat had failed and let people know why he was replaced. He, however, asserted that in his opinion the BJP did not have courage to tell the people some bitter truths.
Asserting that Congress had a strong chance of winning the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand, Rawat said that people were fed up of poor governance by the BJP Government in the state. He said the Congress would give priority to persons with total commitment and proven loyalty to the party in distribution of party tickets in the upcoming elections. Such persons would have a stronger chance of winning the elections. He claimed that many young faces of the Congress would be given party tickets in the upcoming assembly elections. Women would also be given better representation in distribution of tickets, he claimed, and added that a selection committee would be constituted soon for this purpose.
