Dehradun, 1 Jan: The BJP has today issued a stern warning to its workers regarding indiscipline in the ongoing civic elections. In a statement issued today, State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt emphasised that the party’s unity and supremacy remains paramount, and insisted that the decisions taken collectively and in accordance with the party constitution are binding on all members. Bhatt also issued warning of a strict action in case the rebel party candidates fail to withdraw their nominations in the municipal elections. It may be recalled that tomorrow is the last day for withdrawal of nominations.
While reviewing the status of nomination withdrawals in municipal elections, Bhatt directed the party office bearers to intensify their efforts to address instances of independent candidacies by party workers. He also claimed that in most cases, independent nominations by party workers have been withdrawn, demonstrating adherence to the party’s principles, discipline, and commitment to regional development.
Bhatt urged those who have yet to withdraw their independent nominations to do so by the final deadline, stressing on the importance of collective action for the party’s success. He added that the strength of the party is essential for serving the people of the state. Personal ambitions must be set aside to ensure the victory of the party’s authorized candidates.
Issuing a final warning, Bhatt made it clear that disciplinary action would be taken against those contesting against official candidates. Any worker who defies the party’s decision and contests as an independent will face expulsion from the party for six years, he stated categorically. He added that the party has urged everyone to avoid such an unpleasant outcome and align their efforts with the interests of the party and the state. Expressing confidence in the party’s workers, Bhatt expressed hope that by the end of the nomination withdrawal period, all independent candidates within the BJP would withdraw their nominations to strengthen the party’s chances in the civic elections.
