Dehradun, 13 Jun: BJP observers have concluded their groundwork for the upcoming by-elections and presented their report to State Party President Mahendra Bhatt. This was confirmed by BJP State General Secretary Aditya Kothari during an informal chat with media persons at the BJP State Headquarters here today.
He revealed that prospective candidates have been reviewed and shortlisted by the party observers and the shortlisted names have been forwarded to the central leadership. Kothari indicated that the party’s official nominees are expected to be announced within the next two to three days.
Kothari recalled that the day before, in the Badrinath constituency, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Bharat Singh Chaudhary, and Election In-charge Vinod Kapruwan had engaged with veteran party members to compile a comprehensive report. A similar process was undertaken regarding the Manglaur constituency by the party observer, MLA Khajan Das, and Kothari himself, along with Election In-charge Ajit Chaudhary. The report, which includes a thorough ground assessment, social dynamics, and organisational polling data, shortlists viable candidates for both constituencies. This list, after meticulous scrutiny, was dispatched to the central command by the state president.
Kothari voiced optimism that the central leadership would deliberate on the shortlist and finalise the candidates within the next couple of days. He also claimed that the prevailing sentiment in both constituencies is in favour of the BJP, as evidenced by the public’s inclination to support the party’s vision for comprehensive state development under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Dhami’s leadership. He claimed that voters are anticipated to contribute to this developmental trajectory by electing BJP representatives though these two seats were held by the Opposition so far.
