Dehradun, 17 Jun: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed confidence that it would secure a resounding victory in the upcoming panchayat elections in the state, asserting that preparations are complete and public enthusiasm for development is at an all-time high.
Addressing media personnel at the party headquarters, today, BJP State Media In-charge Manveer Chauhan claimed that the party anticipates a landslide win in the three-tier panchayat elections, mirroring its success in the Assembly, Lok Sabha, and urban local body polls. He credited this momentum to the ‘double-engine’ government, which, according to him, has propelled Uttarakhand towards rapid development over the past three years.
Chauhan also claimed that the welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have significantly benefitted even the most marginalised sections of society and have brought transformative changes to their lives.
Chauhan also reminded that the BJP first earned the public’s trust in the 2017 Assembly elections, owing to the performance of past Central and state governments. He further stated that the party’s credibility had been bolstered through the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the recent urban local body polls. Now, he asserted, rural people in the state are poised to strengthen the BJP’s growth trajectory by ushering in a ‘third engine’ of development, ensuring the lotus symbol flourishes in the panchayats just as it has in urban areas.
Outlining the BJP’s election strategy, Chauhan shared that the party’s leadership has finalised its teams and selected observers who will soon visit various regions of the state. Once the election dates are announced, these observers will begin fieldwork, preparing panels of endorsed candidates for district panchayat member positions while mobilising workers for other posts.
Commenting on the opposition, Chauhan criticised the Congress for engaging in what he termed as ‘politics of misinformation’, claiming that the party had failed to manage voter lists and booth operations effectively. He accused Congress leaders of protesting about the election results instead of accepting them, citing similar actions following the urban local body polls.
Chauhan concluded by emphasising the alertness of Uttarakhand’s electorate, asserting that the people trust the BJP for development and acknowledge the significance of a “triple-engine” government in driving prosperity across villages.
