Book released on ‘Lok Shakti Tree Plantation’

DEHRADUN, 11 Feb: Maiti Sanstha and Neo Vision Foundation have completed a project, Lok Shakti Tree Plantation, under which trees of useful varieties have been planted in the compounds of selected Government Middle Schools in all the seventy Legislative Constituencies of Uttarakhand. The responsibility of protecting these trees has been allotted to two girls of each school who have been selected from the weaker sections of society under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padaho’ scheme.
The responsibility of adopting these two girls and ensuring that they get their desired education has been given to the elected legislator of that constituency. All the 70 MLAs have agreed to take on the responsibility.
All the data pertaining to this scheme with necessary photographs has been compiled in a book, which was released by Brig KG Behl (Retd), President, AICC & Sanyukta Nagrik Sangathan, Rear Admiral Rana (Retd), and others at a Press Conference held here on 10 February. A copy of the compilation will be sent to the Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat.
The PC was presided over by Kalyan Singh and Gajender Ramola, the presidents of the two NGOs. Others present included Chatur Singh Negi, Dr Mukul Sharma, Sushil Tyagi, Sumit Kumar, CS Negi, Jitendra Dandona, Chandrawati Aswal, Mahendra Rawat, Rakesh Maithani, Kundan Singh Negi and others.
