DEHRADUN, 24 Mar: This generation is being bombarded by loads of information, but how much of information that one consumes every day does one comprehend? Hence, the concept of Speed Reading is necessary for these speedy times.
Keeping this in mind, The Booknerds organised a Speed Reading Hangout to discuss its techniques and inculcate the habit in daily life. The event was the third edition and has become one of the liveliest events of The Booknerds.
The event kickstarted with an introduction by Rohan Raj, co-founder of The Booknerds, a community of 1000 plus readers who meet every Sunday to discuss books and the joy of reading. He proceeded by telling the audience about the concept of Speed Reading. He mentioned the use of peripheral vision, developing the habit of using it to increase one’s speed. He also took the audience’s view with regard to what obstructed them or slowed down their speed. Responding to these queries, he discussed how these causes could be easily eliminated. Leading by example, with the help of a volunteer, he mentioned quick tips which proved helpful for the activity that followed.
In the next segment, The Booknerds team had organised a special activity for children as well as adults to check their speed reading skills. In a minute, they had to read as much as they could from The Jungle Book. Shivani among adults and Medha in the children’s category proved to be the swiftest and were gifted prizes by Neha Raj, co-founder of The Booknerds.
The next Booknerds session will be on 14 April.
