Dehradun, 15 Sep: The BJP has strongly condemned the boycott of senior journalists associated with media institutions by the INDI Alliance and asserted that the boycott indicates Congress’s aversion to freedom of expression.
BJP State Media-In-charge Manveer Chauhan said this while addressing media persons at the party’s state headquarters here today. He alleged that, once again, it has been proved that the Congress, which is guilty of ending press freedom during the Emergency and claims to be a shop of love, is in reality filled with hatred towards journalists who dare to question the party.
Chauhan said it is very unfortunate that the people who are falsely accusing the government of stifling freedom og expression in the country are now opposing the journalists who dare to show them the mirror. The BJP leader claimed that, on the one hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claims that he is running a shop to spread love and harmony and, on the other hand, he is filled with so much hatred towards journalists. All the leaders of this alliance are alleging suppression of democracy by the Modi Government but in reality are suffering from hatred for the fourth pillar of democracy. Congress is the party which had committed the crime of ending democracy in the country by imposing emergency. Chauhan claimed that arrogance and dictatorship are in the DNA of Congress leaders. It can’t be forgotten that during the Emergency, the Congress had punished the entire country by usurping the fundamental rights of the citizens after a high court judgement against the then Prime Minister. Today, the coalition led by the Congress does not seem to have the ability to listen to truth and criticism. This is the reason why the Congress has decided to boycott certain media persons and not to appear before them during the TV debates.
Chauhan reminded that this decision affecting the freedom of the press has been taken in the first meeting of the coordination committee of the arrogant alliance. DMK leaders have already revealed their opposition to Sanatan culture but continue to be a part of the Alliance. This is because it is the policy of the Alliance to oppose Sanatan Dharma and culture. In such a situation, it appears that the Opposition Alliance treats hijacking of democracy and gagging the media as an important part of its ideological policy. He expressed shock that instead of repenting for the mistake that Congress had committed in the past, it is trying to strongly justify that sad decision.
