Dehradun, 15 Sep: The election schedule has been announced the notification for the three-tier Panchayat by-elections to the vacant posts of Panchayats in Dehradun district. Voting will be held on 5 October for the vacant posts of Gram Panchayat members, Gram Pradhan, Members of Kshetra Pancahyat (Block Panchayat) and Members of the District Panchayat. Consequently, the Model Code of Conduct (MCOC) has also been enforced in the areas where the panchayat polls will be held. This will remain in force from the date of the issue of the notification till the end of counting of votes.
District Election Officer Sonika has stated that nomination papers will be submitted on 20 and 21 September. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on 22 September. Withdrawal of nominations can be done on 23 September from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. The allocation of election symbols will be done on 24 September. Polling will be held on 5 October. Counting of votes will take place on 7 October.
The District Magistrate, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), has appointed the Returning and Assistant Returning Officers. The DEO also directed the officials that the process of sale, deposit, scrutiny, withdrawal of nominations and allotment of symbols for the elections should be completed at the block headquarters.
