Master plan for Mahasu Temple will be ready soon: Maharaj

DEHRADUN, 15 Sept: The District Administrations of Dehradun and Uttarkashi, on the instructions of Minister of Culture, Endowment, Tourism, Irrigation, Public Works, Panchayati Raj, Rural Works and Watershed, Satpal Maharaj, organised the Jagra (Devayani) State Fair in the premises of the Mahasu Temple located at Hanol and Chalda Maharaj Temple located at Dasau. A day’s holiday has been declared for schools on 18 September.

Minister Satpal Maharaj said today that, soon, a master plan for the development of Mahasu Devta Temple located at Hanol will be prepared. He said that the responsibility of preparing the master plan has been given to Ahmedabad’s design agency INS.

The Tourism Department has prepared a proposal for the development of Mahasu Devta Temple located at Hanol on the lines of Badrinath and Kedarnath, on which the State Cabinet had already given its approval.

Thousands of devotees come to Jagra every year to worship at Hanol Temple, the main pilgrimage site of Jaunsar Babar. In view of the Jagra Devayani Fair at Hanol Temple on 18 September and Chalda Maharaj Dassau on 19 September, the Chief Education Officer, Dehradun, in development blocks Kalsi and Chakrata, and the Chief Education Officer, Uttarkashi, have declared a one-day holiday in all government, non-government and private schools from class 1 to 12 under the development blocks Purola and Mori.
