Dehradun, 4 Feb: A Butterfly Garden will soon be ready at the Raj Bhavan in Dehradun, which is rich in natural beauty and biodiversity. This garden will provide visitors with the opportunity to witness the colourful world of butterflies while promoting their conservation.

In this regard, Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), held a discussion with the Chief Conservator of Forests, Dr Dhananjay Mohan, and other forest department officials. Dr Mohan informed the Governor that the garden’s action plan has been finalised. He explained that suitable native plants, which attract butterflies and help support their life cycle, will be planted in the garden. He also mentioned that Uttarakhand is home to more than 500 species of butterflies, which reflects the region’s rich biodiversity.

The Governor emphasised that Uttarakhand’s diverse climate and natural wealth make it an ideal place for butterflies. The Raj Bhavan campus already has various types of trees, plants, and flower gardens that provide a favourable environment for butterflies and birds. He further stated that the Butterfly Garden will enhance biodiversity and have a positive impact on environmental conservation. The event was attended by the Chief Wildlife Warden Ranjan Kumar Mishra, Forest Conservator, Shivalik Range, Rajeev Dhiman, and Director, Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Dr Coco Rose.
