Dehradun, 4 Feb: A Road Safety and Traffic Rules Awareness Workshop was organised at Doon University. In this workshop, Jasbir Bartwal from Janakrosh Organisation shared detailed information about the objectives of Janakrosh and the various welfare programmes being carried out in society.
On this occasion, the Convener of the organization, Vinod Aswal, elaborated on different aspects of road safety for students and emphasised the importance of following traffic rules while commuting. He stated that ensuring the safety of every person on the road should be a collective responsibility. The increasing number of road accidents in society is alarming, and therefore, it is the responsibility of the youth to not only follow traffic rules themselves but also contribute to raising awareness among others.
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, Prof Surekha Dangwal, in her message, stressed that young people must adhere to traffic rules and pay attention to speed while driving. She pointed out that speeding often causes insecurity among pedestrians and is a major factor in severe accidents. She expressed confidence that the students of Doon University would not only educate themselves about road safety but also spread awareness within society.
It is worth mentioning that Janakrosh is an all-India non-governmental organisation based in Nagpur, which has been working on road safety awareness programs since 2012 with a vision for a better future. As part of this programme, awareness activities were conducted with NCC cadets and NSS Batch-2 students of Doon University. On this occasion, psychologist Anjali Aswal provided insights into the golden rules of road safety and the psychology of reckless drivers responsible for major road accidents. She emphasised that with the active participation of young people, road accidents can be significantly reduced, thereby decreasing vehicle-related fatalities.
The event was attended by Dean, Student Welfare, Prof HC Purohit, NSS Programme Officer Dr Vaishali, Head of the Department of Psychology Dr Rajesh Bhatt, research scholar Dheeraj Kumar, and several NSS and NCC students.
