Dehradun,16 Mar: Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the CM’s residence today and formally submitted his resignation from his ministerial post.
Following the submission, Chief Minister Dhami forwarded Aggarwal’s resignation to the Governor for further action.
Aggarwal took this action amid growing demands for his dismissal following his controversial remarks against the Pahadi community during the budget session.
Before submitting his resignation, Aggarwal held a press conference, where he became emotional, reflecting on his contributions to the statehood movement and development. He clarified that his intentions were not wrong and that he had already given an explanation in the assembly on the same day. He stated that the offensive word in question was not directed at any community and that a misleading narrative was being spread on social media.
After the press conference, he proceeded to the Chief Minister‘s residence and formally handed over his resignation to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Before announcing his resignation, Aggarwal, accompanied by his wife, visited the Uttarakhand Shaheed Memorial at Rampur Tiraha, Muzaffarnagar. He paid floral tributes to the martyrs and pledged to work for the state’s development and to maintain social harmony.
