Mussoorie, 6 Jan: Two persons were arrested by the Kempty Police under the leadership of Kavita Rani of Nainbagh police check-post, with .505 kg of charas in their possession. They were booked under sections of the 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
CO, Narendra Nagar, JP Juyal said that during a random checking, two charas smugglers were arrested with .505 kg of charas and a motorcycle, numbered HR71-D- 4744, which was being used to smuggle the banned substance. Those nabbed are Mayank Rawat, s/o War Singh, r/o Fawa Village, Purola, Uttarkashi, and Manvir, s/o Gulab Singh, r/o Kanknoi, Kalsi, Dehradun. They were arrested at Surasu, about two kilometres before the police check post in Nainbagh. Both were presented in court and sent to prison. CO Juyal said that the police were continuously taking action against the drug smugglers and had also achieved success.
The accused claimed they were given a packet by an acquaintance in Uttarkashi and asked to give it to a person in Kempty Fall area. They did not know what was in the packet. When the police stopped them and asked about the packet, they came to know that it contained charas.
Sub-Inspector Himmat Singh, Sub Inspector Ravindra Joshi, Parmesh Chauhan, Manish Vedwal was present in the police team.
