Dehradun, 9 May: Former Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau, Rajesh Malhotra said today that the trend of fake news will reduce if people start checking the information at their own level.
Malhotra was delivering a lecture on “Excellence in Media Management: A Deep Dive into Strategic Approaches and Practical Cases” at Graphic Era Hill University, here. He said that, in this era of information technology, where news from every corner of the country reaches us within minutes, most is in the category of fake news due to the presence of wrong information in it. To avoid this, fact checking is necessary.
He also spoke about AI tools which can be used to avoid misinformation and fake news. He highlighted the role of media in times of crisis. On this occasion, students presented a skit on fake news.
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Dr Sanjay Jasola welcomed Rajesh Malhotra.
The programme was organised in Graphic Era Hill University’s KP Nautiyal Auditorium. It was held by the Media and Mass Communication Department.
