Chief Secretary conducts on-site inspection of Pantnagar Airport expansion

Pantnagar, 16 Apr: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan inspected Pantnagar Airport during his visit to the district on Thursday and reviewed the proposed airport expansion works.
During the review, DGM, Civil, Anoop Gupta stated that Pantnagar Airport is being built according to international standards. The expansion work is being carried out at a cost of Rs 380 crore. He added that 524.70 acres of land has been allotted to the Airport Authority for the expansion of Pantnagar Airport. Building demolition and tree felling have been completed on the land allotted to the airport belonging to TDC, Pantnagar University, military firms, etc.
Gupta stated that the construction of the boundary wall for the airport expansion is in progress and will be completed by June. A 3,000-metre runway will be constructed according to international standards, and a new terminal will be built, along with a hangar, ILS facility, cargo, and night landing facilities. He also stated that ATMs, car parking, taxi retail counters, and WiFi facilities will be installed at the existing airport for passenger convenience. A helpdesk, first aid, and ambulance facilities have also been provided. Environmental clearance has been applied for the airport expansion work.
PD NHAI stated that a survey has been conducted and tenders have been issued for shifting the national highway that will be affected by the airport expansion, and work will commence soon.
District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria stated that a guesthouse has been proposed on land adjacent to Pantnagar Airport. He also stated that land adjacent to the airport has also been allotted to the Army.
The Chief Secretary received detailed information about the air services operating from Pantnagar Airport. He directed all officials to coordinate the airport expansion work.
Chief Development Officer Divesh Shashani presented information on the district’s development projects through a PPT. He said that the district was honoured by the President for securing second position in Janman Yojana. Similarly, out of 372 Gram Panchayats in the district, 229 Gram Panchayats were honoured by the Governor for being TB free and securing second position in TB free campaign. He gave detailed information about Twenty Point Programme, Sampoornata Abhiyan, Rudrapur Bypass, Amrit Yojana, construction of cowshed, construction of medical college, construction of circuit house, construction of working women hostel in transit camp and SIDCUL, construction of parking and park in Sitarganj, etc.
After this, the Chief Secretary interacted with the students who received 3 months’ computer training under World on Wheels Digital Learning Lab Education Programme and gave them certificates.
