Kiccha, 16 Apr: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan conducted a site inspection of the 280-bed satellite AIIMS under construction in Kichha on Thursday, which will cost Rs 351 crore. During the inspection, he directed the CPWD Engineer to expedite work by increasing the number of workers and equipment, and to complete the hospital by July. He urged that the hospital buildings be prioritised by a work plan so that OPDs can begin in August. CPWD
Engineer Utpal Tripathi stated that the hospital will be completed by 30 July. He added that more than 85 percent of the residential buildings are complete and will be completed by May. The hospital’s roads will also be completed by May, and plantations will begin in June. He added that the AIIMS will have 250 beds, 10 OTs, 30 ICU beds, diagnostics and lab, cardiology, nephrology, urology, neurology, general surgery, orthopaedics, general medicine, paediatrics, emergency and trauma. He informed that an inn and a shopping complex are also being constructed at the hospital.
AIIMS Rishikesh Director, Prof Meenu Singh, stated that if the hospital is completed and handed over in July, OPD services will begin in August.
The Irrigation Superintending Engineer stated that AIIMS has three approach gates on the highway side, where drains will be constructed and approach culverts will be built before July.
The Chief Secretary and Divisional Commissioner also planted trees on the campus. Dangi, AGM NCC Ajay, Manager Shankar Balu, Harishankar, Assistant Engineer CPWD Rakesh Patel, and others.
