DEHRADUN, 28 Dec: Taking cognisance of reports in a section of media, and in view of the cold wave prevailing in Dehradun city currently, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal on Saturday appointed five nodal/co-nodal officers to ensure that helpless and destitute people in the Municipal Corporation area are being chaperoned to night shelters established by the Municipal Corporation. These officers have been directed to transport individuals from their designated areas to the nearest night shelters using vehicles provided by the Corporation. They have also been asked to ensure that entries are made in the registers available at the night shelters. In addition, Municipal Commissioner also distributed blankets to helpless and destitute people in various areas of the city. The number of bonfires in the city has been increased to provide warmth during the heavy rain and cold weather.
