Clean-up Drive undertaken on Dalai Lama’s birthday

DEHRADUN, 7 Jul: To commemorate the Dalai Lama’s 84th Birthday, Doon Buddhist Committee organised a tree planting and clean-up drive on the theme, ‘United for a Green & Clean Doon’, at Sahastradhara Road and the park adjoining it. It was done in the belief that following his ‘advice in practice’ would be the best birthday gift one could offer on such a sacred occasion. Reenu Paul, President of Rajpur Community Initiative, was the Chief Guest on the occasion, and Brigadier Behl (Retd), the Special Guest. The programme was participated in by members of MAD (Making a Difference), Regional Tibetan Women Association, Friends of Nature, Tibetan Animal Lovers, Doon Animal Welfare, Drikung Monastery, Sangyukt Nagrik Sangathan, Tibetan Environment Club, Tara Foundation and others, making it a meaningful celebration. Plants and refreshments were contributed by Acharya Kinley Gyaltsen.
