DEHRADUN, 1 Dec: Renowned film director and National Film Award winner Prakash Jha met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, here, today. During the meeting, Jha expressed his interest in filming in Uttarakhand and noted that there is a growing trend among the film industry professionals to shoot movies in the state.
Dhami warmly welcomed Jha and assured him that the state government would extend all possible cooperation for film shootings. He highlighted that Uttarakhand offers several attractive destinations for filming. Furthermore, the state has introduced a new Film Policy-2024, which allows for a single-window system for film shooting permissions. Under this policy, films in Hindi and languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution are eligible for a subsidy of 30% of the total expenditure incurred in the state, or up to a maximum of Rs 3 crores. Foreign films and films with a budget exceeding 50 crores are also eligible for a subsidy of 30% of the expenditure or a maximum of Rs 3 crores. The Chief Minister emphasised that promoting films in Uttarakhand would also boost tourism.
On this occasion, the CEO of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council and Director General of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, was also present.
