CM directs action plan for effective eradication of narcotics

Dehradun, 22 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while holding the state level NCORD meeting at the Secretariat here today, directed the officials to prepare an action plan for effective eradication of narcotics in the state. He also directed to take continuous action under the NDPS Act to stop the sale of intoxicants in the form of medicines. For this, he said that joint teams should be formed and raids should be conducted. Immediate action should be taken regarding the operation of de-addiction centres being built in Haldwani and Kotdwar. To completely stop drug smuggling in the border areas of Uttarakhand, an intensive checking campaign should be conducted, he directed.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also administered the oath of ‘Yes to life, no to drugs’, to the village heads and ward members of 85 villages/wards identified under ‘Drug Free City-Drug Free Village’ through virtual medium. The Chief Minister said that all departments will have to make efforts to make Uttarakhand a drug-free state by 2025. He said that more and more youth should be included in this campaign. Police, Health, School Education, Higher Education, Social Welfare Department and District Magistrate at the district level should also run a large-scale awareness campaign for Drug Free Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister said that drug counselling centres should be made in all jails. Education department should include topics related to moral education and ill effects of drugs in the curriculum. Along with creating awareness for de-addiction, efforts should be made at every level to prevent drug abuse. He said that the police, major educational institutions and the higher education department should also prepare an effective action plan for de-addiction. All District Magistrates should try to ensure that their district is first free from drugs. He said that if there seems to be a need to create cells for de-addiction in major educational institutions, then they should be created.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Abhinav Kumar, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Amit Kumar Sinha, Secretary HC Semwal were present in the meeting.
Journo Rakesh Dobhal bereaved

Dehradun, 22 Dec: 90-year-old Kamla Devi Dobhal, mother of senior ‘Rashtriya Sahara’ journalist Rakesh Dobhal, died of cardiac arrest late on Thursday evening.
Kamla Devi has left behind a family of five children and grandchildren. She has two sons, DK DobhalRakesh Dobhal and three daughters, Saraswati Thapliyal, Chandraprabha Bhatt and Sumitra Bahuguna. Her last rites held today in Haridwar. 
Dobhal family is originally resident of Dobha village of Idwalsyun belt of Pauri Garhwal district and currently resides in Saraswati Soni Marg, Laxman Chowk, Dehradun. Journalists associated with Uttarakhand Journalist’s Union and other organisations have expressed grief over her demise.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed condolence on the demise of the mother of senior journalist Rakesh Dobhal. The Chief Minister has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and grant patience to the bereaved family members.
