CM hands over possession letters to 101 beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana

Power lines on main routes of Doon to be laid underground at cost of Rs 977 crores

Dehradun, 16 Sep: The Pushkar Singh Dhami Government today announced a grant of 50 percent subsidy for consumers who consume up to 100 units of electricity per month in the state. This announcement was made on the occasion of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s birthday. It was also announced that that for the higher Himalayan regions, 50 percent subsidy will be given for consumers consuming up to 200 units per month.

It was, however, also made clear that this facility will be available to consumers with electricity load up to 1 kilowatt. It is estimated that about 11.50 lakhs of consumers will get the benefit of this scheme. Announcements to this effect were made by CM Dhami during a programme organised at his residence on the occasion of his birthday.  The CM made several other announcements, too, on this occasion and also laid the foundation stone of five ADB funded projects of PTCUL. These projects include construction of a 220 kV GIS Substation in Selaqui and installing related lines; construction work on 132 kV GIS Substation at Araghar and installation of related lines; construction work on 132 kV GIS Substation in Lohaghat and related lines; construction work on 132 kV GIS Substation Dhaulakheda and installation of related lines; and construction work on 132 kV GIS Substation in Khatima and related lines.

Dhami also inaugurated a project for installation of 16 lakh smart meters under the centrally funded RDSS scheme for UPCL in Garhwal and Kumaon region and the work of undergrounding the electricity lines of the main routes of Dehradun city under the Uttarakhand Climate Resilient Power System Development Project, to be externally aided by ADB. An expenditure of around Rs 977 crores is expected to be incurred on ungrounding the lines.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also handed over possession letters and keys to 101 beneficiaries of the buildings of Lakshmi Awas Yojana Shikarpur, Roorkee, Haridwar, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban.

The CM claimed that the state government is working rapidly in every field towards sustainable development of Uttarakhand. He said that the power projects whose foundation stone has been laid today would further improve the supply and distribution of electricity in the state. This will boost industries in the state as well as create additional employment. He claimed that this will give a stronger base to the economy of the state. Smart meters will strengthen the energy supply system and also solve the billing related problems of the general public. The CM said that the state government is continuously moving forward on the path of development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal claimed that CM Dhami has given many gifts to the people of the state on the occasion of his birthday. He said that, since taking charge, the CM has created a new work culture in the state. Many big works are being done during his tenure. He also stated that that laying the power line underground in Dehradun at a cost of Rs. 977 crore is an important task to be undertaken soon.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Rajya Sabha MP Dr Kalpana Saini, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Energy Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, MD UPCL Anil Kumar, MD PTCUL PC Dhyani were among those present.
