DGP addresses media regarding robbery in Haridwar Jewellery Showroom

Dehradun, 16 Sep: The Uttarakhand Police today claimed to have solved the robbery that took place in a Haridwar jewellery shop.
Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar held a press conference at the PHQ Headquarters here, today, and shared that during an encounter with the robbers involved in the robbery, one of the accused has been killed. Kumar stated that the criminal killed in the encounter has been identified as Satendra Pal (32) alias Lucky, who was a resident of Muktsar, Punjab. Kumar added that two criminals have been arrested and jewellery worth Rs 50 lakhs have been recovered from them. Kumar assured that the remaining criminals will also be arrested soon.
The robbery took place on 1 September.
The DGP also praised SSP, Haridwar, Parmendra Dobhal and his team and said he was happy to note that the police worked with courage and skill. He conceded that there are still more challenges to overcome in the case. He assured that the Police would soon nab all the accused in the case.
Kumar reminded that, on 1 September, a “very serious and heinous incident of robbery was carried out by miscreants in broad daylight at Shri Balaji Jewellers in Jwalapur area of Haridwar”. He stated that CM Pushkar Singh Dham had issued instructions to the Police for speedy disclosure of the said incident. The Uttarakhand Police had taken the robbery case very seriously and solved the case as a major challenge.
Kumar reminded that he had reached the site of the crime, himself, and had sought detailed information about the incident and assured the victims that the case would be solved soon. He added that SSP, Haridwar, Parmendra Dobhal was directed to quickly unveil the incident by appointing an STF team along with the district teams for the speedy arrest of the accused. Kumar monitored the progress of the investigation and that the case was successfully solved.
He told media that, last night, at 10:30 p.m., the SHO, Bahadarabad, was conducting a check on suspicious persons/vehicle movement along with a police team at the BHEL Tiraha. When an attempt was made to stop a motorcycle without number plate on which two people were riding, both persons had covered their faces with white cloth, coming from the direction of Loha Pul. Kumar claimed that the person sitting behind started to fire at the police team with the intention to kill them and, later, fled towards Bahadarabad market. The SHO, Bahadarabad, along with his police team chased the alleged miscreants, who were rushing towards Bhagwanpur Road when the motorcycle slipped about 100 metres before Pathri Roh bridge. After this, the alleged miscreants left the motorcycle on the road and started running towards the forest firing at the police team. The police asked them to surrender, but the miscreants kept firing.
The Police claim to have, in retaliation, started firing back. One miscreant got injured and the other managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. The injured person was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. A forensic team was called on the spot and on checking the bag recovered from the spot, the jewellery looted from Sri Balaji Jewellers was recovered from inside. The Police also claimed that the miscreant later was declared dead during treatment at the district hospital.
On the basis of the mobile phone recovered from the miscreant, he has been identified as Satendra Pal alias Lucky, son of Rajpal Singh and resident of Muktsar, aged about 32 years. A reward of Rs 1 lakh had also been announced on the accused. It has come to light that several criminal cases have been registered against the miscreant in Punjab. In connection with the above incident, a case has been registered under Section 109 BNS and 25 Arms Act (Police Encounter) at Police Station, Bahadarabad.
The DGP also stated that, this afternoon, the Jwalapur police also arrested 2 other accused involved in the said robbery, who have been identified as Gurdeep Singh alias Moni, son of Buta Singh, resident of Shri Musa Sahib Budha Gurjar Road, Muktsar, and Jaideep Singh alias Mana, son of Dharmendra Singh alias Raju, resident of Musa Sahib. They were held from near Khyaati Dhaba with the jewellery looted in the robbery, comprising eight gold chains. The Police claimed that apart from 8 gold bangles, 6 gold chains, 2 gold bracelets, 1 gold ring, 1 gold necklace, 14 gold earrings and 8 gold chains were recovered from the miscreants arrested today.) These are estimated to be worth Rs 50 lakhs.
In addition, one pistol of .32 bore with empty cartridge, 1 live cartridge, 4 cartridges and one motorcycle without number plate used in the incident have also been recovered.
