CM inaugurates, lays foundation stone of schemes worth Rs 291 crore in Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi, 8 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a road show here on Monday, during which a large crowd gathered on the streets to welcome him. Thousands of women dressed in traditional attire stood on both sides of the road and showered flowers. On this occasion, the Chief Minister participated in the ‘Didi-Bhuli Mahotsav’ for women. He laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects costing more than Rs 291 crore. These included the inauguration of the Renovation and Upgradation work on the Tiloth Power House of UJVN Limited at a cost of Rs 189 crore.

When Chief Minister Dhami reached Uttarkashi to participate in the ‘Didi-Bhuli Mahotsav’ dedicated to women empowerment, a road show was taken out from the Bus Stand Petrol Pump to Ramlila Maidan via Bhatwadi Road, Bhairav ​​Chowk, Court Road and Hanuman Chowk.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also paid obeisance to the Kandar Deity of Barahat area and offered prayers at the Maa Shakti and Baba Vishwanath Temple and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the state and the country. The road show organised over a distance of more than 100 kms. The city residents as well as people from every corner of the district welcomed the Chief Minister with great enthusiasm by showering flowers. Groups of women from rural areas dressed in traditional attire and cultural tableaus of folk artists were the main centres of attraction in the road show. Everyone was seen dancing to the playing of traditional musical instruments like Dhol-Damau and Ransinghe.

Chief Minister Dhami appeared overwhelmed by this unique cultural diversity of Uttarkashi and expressed his love for the traditions by showering flowers on the common people and artists.

After the completion of the road show, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ‘Vikas Bharat Vikas Gram’ exhibition by worshiping a Badri cow at the Ramlila Maidan. Along with inspecting the exhibition stalls, the Chief Minister also interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes and distributed cheques to them.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also took information about Red Paddy which got the honour of second place in the country in the ‘One District One Product’ Nation Award. Women farmers presented sheaves of red paddy to the Chief Minister. On this occasion, the Chief Minister pounded red paddy with the women in a traditional mortar by holding a ginjyali (pestle) and was told about making chivda from red paddy.

Dhami also met the traditional wool producers of Dunda and Bagori areas and took information about wool weaving and spinning and also operated the charkha.

On this occasion the Chief Minister donated He laid the foundation stone of 24 schemes costing Rs 57 crore 38 lakh and inaugurated 38 schemes costing Rs 45 crore 37 lakh.
