Pauri, 25 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the three-day Shaheed Mela at Dugadda Park, here, today. On this occasion, the CM made several announcements for the area’s development. He announced that a modern multi-purpose building will be constructed for Municipal Council of Dugadda. An official vehicle would also be provided for the board. The CM also announced that conservation, beautification, and reconstruction of Bhawani Singh Rawat Shaheed Smriti Sthal would be undertaken by the Municipality. A permanent night shelter for the destitute would be built under the charge of Municipal Council, Dugadda.
The CM further announced establishment of a Primary Health Centre in Dugadda town, which will be developed and named after Mohanlal Baunthiyal. A mini stadium will be established in Dugadda block, and a bridge will be constructed over the Silgad River in Fatehpur. Announcements were also made to beautify and develop the Sidhbaba Temple in Matiyali.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami recalled contributions of the immortal martyrs and stated that their courage and sacrifice continue to guide everyone towards one’s dedication and duty to the country. Such events raise awareness among the youth about the history and culture, inspiring them to adopt the ideals of the martyrs.
The CM asserted that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, memorials and museums are being built across the country to remind the new generation of the glorious stories of the freedom struggle. He claimed that the state government has initiated many schemes for the welfare of brave freedom fighters, soldiers, and their families. In this series, the fifth Dham of Uttarakhand, Sainik Dham, is being built in Guniyal village, Dehradun, he reminded. The government is prioritising health services and housing schemes for the dependents of freedom fighters.
Dhami also reminded that that the state government has freed more than 5,000 hectares of land from encroachment across the state. The government has passed a strong Land Law with full majority in the assembly session four days ago. Full preparations are being made to solve the problem of forest fires. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration to control forest fires. The responsibility of the forest department officials concerned will be fixed in any forest area where a fire breaks out. Action will also be taken against those who set fires, and they will be held responsible for compensating the loss. A law will soon be made for this.
Dhami said discussions will be held with the Central Government regarding human-wildlife conflict and development versus forest conservation. This will address the challenges and allow development works to proceed. Instructions have been given to the officials concerned to ensure legal action regarding wildlife attacks. He said saving everyone’s life is our priority, and a law regarding wildlife attacks will also be made soon.
At the Shaheed Mela, beneficiaries were supported through stalls set up by REAP Project, Child Development, Forest Department, Agriculture Department, Horticulture, Cooperative, Social Welfare, Dairy Department, Health Department, and other departments.
