Dehradun, 12 Mar: Uttarakhand government has taken a significant step toward realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Healthy India, Strong India. To fulfil this commitment, the state has launched the ‘Fit Uttarakhand’ campaign, aimed at motivating citizens to adopt a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.

Furthering its commitment to public health, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also announced the effective implementation of the ‘Eat Right India Campaign, an initiative led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). He has directed that the campaign be implemented swiftly. Nodal Officers have been deployed already for its execution. Public representatives, secretaries, district magistrates, department heads, and other officials have been asked to work in full coordination to ensure its success. Additionally, in response to changing lifestyles, the general public is being encouraged to reduce the consumption of oil, sugar, and salt.

On the CM’s instructions, the state government has begun taking steps to make the campaign successful. The Secretariat Complex, Suddhowala Jail, and Petroleum University have already been certified under the ‘Eat Right’ campaign. Moreover, other universities, colleges, hospitals, medical colleges, and jail campuses are being prepared for ‘Eat Right Campus’ and ‘Eat Right School’ certifications. The State Health Secretary, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, has issued guidelines to all educational institutions and departments in this regard.

Commenting on this initiative, CM Dhami emphasised the government’s commitment to realising the PM’s vision. He stated that the Eat Right India campaign will encourage people to adopt a healthy, safe, and balanced diet, helping prevent diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other non-communicable diseases. He added that sincere efforts will also be made to raise awareness among youth, teachers, parents, and the general public about the importance of nutritious food. Additionally, messages promoting proper nutrition will be displayed in restaurants, eateries, and mess halls across the state to encourage healthier eating habits.
