Dehradun/Chamoli, 1 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today virtually addressed the prize distribution ceremony of the ‘Niti Extreme Ultra Run’ held from 31 May to 2 June in Chamoli district’s Niti Valley. During his address, the CM made several important announcements to accelerate tourism development in the Niti Valley region. He asserted that strengthening tourism activities in border areas along with improving the livelihood of local people is a matter of high priority for the state government. Dhami announced that community participation-based tourism will be promoted in villages such as Niti, Malari, Kosha, Farkiya, Bampa, Gurguti, Kailashpur and Mahar Gaon.
Under this initiative, community homestays will be developed along with basic infrastructure for rural tourism. The CM also announced that signage and viewpoints will be created at various villages and major tourist spots in Niti Valley to facilitate visitors. He further declared that ‘Seema Darshan Kendras’ will be established in Rimkhim and Barahoti areas of Chamoli to promote border tourism.
Dhami further announced that basic facilities will be developed at Dupfudhar ground in Gamshali village to encourage adventure tourism and large-scale events. He claimed that these measures will provide new strength to tourism, employment and the local economy in Niti Valley and across the border regions of Uttarakhand.
