Dehradun, 22 Mar: Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat tested Corona positive, today. He shared this information with the public through a tweet on his personal twitter account.
The CM tweeted that he had isolated himself under doctors’ supervision, though he was feeling no symptoms and wasn’t feeling sick. Along with this, he also appealed to all those who came in contact with him over the past few days to be cautious and get themselves tested.
It may be recalled that Rawat was scheduled to fly to Delhi today and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and to invite them to the state for the Mahakumbh! A team of doctors from Doon Medical College went to the CM’s house and examined him following his testing positive for Covid-19 infection. His blood samples were also collected by the team for further investigation. His health parameters are stated to be normal.
His family members were also examined and tested. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had recently met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla while the latter visited the state. Om Birla has also tested positive and, in the wake of this information, Rawat also got himself tested today and the report turned out to be positive.
It may be further recalled that his predecessor, Trivendra Singh Rawat, had also tested Corona positive when he was the CM. Several of his cabinet colleagues including Satpal Maharaj and Harak Singh had also tested positive.
Former Chief Ministers Trivendra Singh Rawat and Harish Rawat have wished that CM Tirath Singh get well soon. Apart from them, many political leaders cutting across the political spectrum have wished a speedy recovery to the CM.
It is worth noting that the cases of Corona infection are once again rising in the state and, during all this, the CM had been touring various districts of the state in the past few days and had participated in several public functions as well, including the Ganga Aarti in Haridwar, the inauguration of many Kumbh related works, and a function in Ramnagar, Nainital. In the course of these events, a large number of people had come in touch with him, who will need to get tested.
