Almora, 26 Apr: The Chief Minister paid emotional tribute to freedom fighter and former Chief Minister, the late Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, on his birth anniversary at a function held here on Tuesday.
Senior BJP leaders Subodh Uniyal, Vijay Bahguna, Saurabh Bahuguna and Vivekanand Khanduri were also present on this occasion,
On the occasion of the 104th birth anniversary of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, while addressing the public service based multipurpose camp and farmers’ festival, CM described Bahuguna as a leader of great vision. He said that Bahuguna made an invaluable contribution to moving the country and especially undivided Uttar Pradesh forward from the freedom struggle to post-independence. He had a distinct identity in Indian politics on the strength of his extraordinary intellectual talent. In his political life, the late Bahuguna started many public welfare schemes while being the Chief Minister of UP and a minister at the Centre. He was a great leader of the hills who took many steps for the development of Uttarakhand and for the benefit of Uttarakhandis. The Chief Minister said that the late Bahuguna had worked to positively influence the politics of India for several decades, right from the freedom movement till independence.
Former CM and son of HN Bahuguna Vijay Bahuguna and Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal also paid rich tributes to the late HN Bahuguna on the occasion. Senior BJP leader Vivekanand Khanduri, who had a close relationship with the late HN Bahuguna, was also present on the occasion.
