Dehradun, 3 Jun: In a major breakthrough, Dehradun police have arrested three drug peddlers, including two foreign nationals linked to the notorious Cobra Gang. In addition, they have also recovered a significant quantity of cocaine intended for supply at high‑profile parties. Acting on separate cases under Rajpur police station, the arrests yielded 20.92 grams of cocaine valued at nearly Rs 20 lakhs.

SSP, Dehradun, Pramendra Dobal shared with the media today that the accused had smuggled the cocaine from Delhi to Dehradun. Earlier, nine foreign traffickers and four others associated with the gang had been arrested with 200 grams of cocaine worth about Rs 2.5 crores. Dobal disclosed the latest arrests at a press briefing held here today and claimed that the gang’s network is being systematically dismantled.

According to Dobal, police checks in Rajpur were intensified after a tip‑off about Cobra Gang members planning to supply cocaine at parties. On Johri Road near the old mazaar, two Sudanese nationals, Michael Ikka Meckson and Levikiri Waniki, were caught with 9.15 grams of cocaine while riding a scooter. At CISF Tiraha on Old Mussoorie Road, Javed Alam was intercepted in a Swift Dzire car with 11.77 grams of cocaine. Two separate cases have been registered at Rajpur police station.

Interrogation of those arrested revealed that the foreign accused are active members of the Cobra Gang and frequently travel between Sudan and India, bringing cocaine from Delhi to distribute through agents across different regions. They admitted that the consignment was procured from another foreign associate named Franzi. Javed confessed that his supply came from a Delhi‑based contact named John and was meant to be delivered in Dehradun parties with the help of another peddler, Kalins.

The Police also claim to be gathering further information on other traffickers identified during questioning and have launched efforts to arrest them. SSP Dobal has announced a cash reward of Rs 2,500 for the police team involved in the arrests. It may be recalled that, in the first five months of 2026, police have seized drugs worth an estimated Rs 3 crores, including 1.23 kg of smack, 9 kg of charas, over 51 kg of ganja, other narcotics, tablets and capsules, and arrested 145 traffickers who have been sent to jail. The authorities claim that the operations are breaking the backbone of drug trafficking networks in the region.
