Dehradun, 20 Jul: BJP today claimed that the administration’s guidelines regarding identification of the shop and stall owners along the Kanwar Yatra routes are necessary for the sanctity and safety of the pilgrims. State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt hit back at the statements issued by Congress leaders and claimed that Congress is anti-Sanatan. It takes out padayatras for its political gains and at the same time also opposes the Yatra arrangements. He also quipped that Congress does double-faced politics, that is why it is supporting those who wish to hide their actual identities to do business unfairly.

Bhatt claimed that for any Yatra, event and to maintain law and order, the police administration has to take strict steps and prepare proper guidelines. It is very important to take care of the sentiments of Kanwariyas and devotees in the holy month of Sawan. In the past few years, many incidents have also come to light on this issue, which caused problems regarding law and order.

Bhatt asserted that some instructions have been issued so that no such problem arises in future and this is equally applicable to people of all religions. He also accused the Congress of doing politics on this whole issue. It would have been better if they had also welcomed the police guidelines regarding the Kanwar Yatra and cooperated in the conduct of successful and safe Kanwar Yatra. But raising questions with political motives without knowing the purpose and spreading lies and confusion shows the Congress party’s thinking against the sanctity and security of the Yatra.

The BJP State President and the Rajya Sabha MP also asked why the Congress always stands in support of people who want to hide their identity. Whether it is the Rohingyas who illegally loot India’s resources, or it is those who do land jihad by encroaching on religion with wrong intentions, whether it is those who carry out love jihad by changing names, whether it is those who commit the sin of conversion through greed and lies. Why did the Congress and the opposition always oppose the action taken on every issue or the compliance of rules, he sought to know. The Congress leaders’ opposition to the instructions to make the identity public during the Kanwar Yatra is also a part of their vote bank politics and appeasement.

He claimed that on one hand Congress is taking out a political yatra on the subject of Kedarnath Dham to negatively influence the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and on the other hand it is opposing the administrative guidelines with the aim of spoiling the arrangements for Kanwar Yatra. This political duplicity of theirs inspires the tendency to hide identity or purpose and spread confusion or rumours, Bhatt claimed.
