Dehradun, 15 Apr: A police constable was attacked while trying to stop loud DJ music during a religious event (Jagran) in Harrawala area of Doiwala, at late night on Monday. While recording the incident, his phone was damaged, and an unknown person hit him on the head. He started bleeding and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the information, Constable Ashish Rathi received a call from a local resident, Prashant Kothiyal, who complained about loud DJ music near his house. He said the noise was disturbing his 5-day-old baby. The constable, along with another police official, reached the Kali Mata Mandir area where the Jagran was taking place. They requested the DJ owner, Vipul, to lower the volume, which he agreed to.
However, the music was turned up again after some time. When the police officers returned, they asked the organizers—Golu, Sagar, and Nikku—to follow the noise rules. Instead, they started arguing with the officers. Soon, other people from the event, including Anil, Saurav, Ankit Paswan, and Vinay Paswan, along with many men and women, surrounded the policemen.
The crowd abused and assaulted the officers. Constable Ashish Rathi’s phone was damaged while recording the incident, his uniform was torn, and he was hit on the head with an unknown object. He began bleeding and went to the hospital for treatment. The doctor advised him to rest. Ashish Rathi later filed a complaint at Doiwala police station and requested strict legal action against the accused. The police have started investigating the matter.
